GUST To Support Burn On European Tour This March

Sweden’s GUST has announced the band’s upcoming participation supporting New York hardcore innovators, Burn, on the band’s Do Or Die tour of Europe this March. Drawing from their harsh self-titled full-length on Southern Lord, and sharing some new material coming together for the follow-up album, the Gothenburg-based GUST crew is eager to hit the road again.

With ten tracks in just under a half-hour, GUST unleashes a maelstrom of cutting edge demolition, with cerebral elements continually emerging from the shadows with an almost ethereal effect on their self-titled LP. Self-recorded at Fvck Life Studios, and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright (Warcry, From Ashes Rise, Deathreat,) who also supplies guest vocals to the album, Gust is a crushing and incredibly dynamic album, displaying a unique style of crust-infused hardcore and talented songwriting from the young act.

See GUST’s video for “Reality Chokes” RIGHT HERE.

Highly recommended for fans of Cursed, Oathbreaker, Rise And Fall, and of course Southern Lord labelmates The Secret, Baptists and Dead In The Dirt, stream and purchase Gust at Bandcamp HERE.

SECT: No Cure For Death LP Streaming At Revolver Magazine; Album Out This Friday Through Southern Lord

North American straightedge/vegan hardcore/crust outfit SECT — featuring members of Cursed, Left For Dead, Catharsis, Undying, Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance, Day Of Suffering, Racetraitor, and many more – will release their second album, No Cure For Death, this Friday via Southern Lord. Advancing its release, the entire LP is now streaming at Revolver Magazine.

SECT vocalist Chris Colohan states, “For a band of people spread so far and wide, No Cure For Death is the record we got to make once we were really rolling – after we’d played a year of shows together, had dusted SECT off and put in the time on stage and on the road to take better aim at both the sounds and messages we wanted to make.

Revolver offers with their album stream, “Recorded with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studios, the album finds the scene vets taking a stand against the sociopolitical status quo… The doomsday clock is ticking, and there’s no time to waste.”

Unleash SECT’s No Cure For Death at Revolver RIGHT HERE.

Southern Lord will release No Cure For Death on CD and digital formats this Friday, November 24th, with the LP following shortly after; find preorders at iTunes HERE, Spotify HERE, and find merch bundles via Southern Lord’s US webshop HERE and Euro store HERE.

SECT unites vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love, Left For Dead), guitarists James Chang (Catharsis, Undying) and Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance), bassist Steve Hart (Day Of Suffering), and drummer Andy Hurley (Racetraitor, The Damned Things). No Cure For Death was recorded with Kurt Ballou at God City studios, mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. Fueled by socio-political vitriol, for SECT, the purpose of hardcore as they know it is to convey an urgency that transcends age, credentials or scene politics, to convert desperation into real talk and action.

The band’s “Day For Night” video, directed by Justin Reich (Black Label Society, Crowbar, Hatebreed), can be seen HERE, and footage of the recording sessions can be viewed HERE.

SECT this week kicks off a run of West Coast shows supporting the LP, with performances in Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver November 24th through 26th. the metallic hardcore is filthy and sinister, laden with a guitar tone resembling a power tool and with feedback akin to the noise one would make scraping on steel.” – Exclaim!

SECT Debuts New Track “Stripes” Via Punktastic; No Cure For Death Incoming Via Southern Lord November 24th + Tour Dates Announced

SECT shares the caustic, riotous “Stripes” through a premiere at Punktastic. The track is taken from their second album, No Cure For Death, due out through Southern Lord next Friday, November 24th. Fueled by socio-political vitriol, for SECT, the purpose of hardcore as they know it is to convey an urgency that transcends age, credentials or scene politics, to convert desperation into real talk and action.

Vocalist Chris Colohan explains the thinking behind this particular track “‘Stripes’ is about the prison industrial complex in overdrive and the political and penal system keeping it stocked compensating economically for the abolition of slavery, and undercutting the gains of the civil rights movement. Essentially, de facto enslavement that aims to recreate and maintain the same original racial and pecking order with the same scapegoats and victims of not just decades but centuries ago that the West was built on. It’s an ugly reminder in the age of the overt white supremacist resurgence and the struggle against it that we’ve never yet gotten beyond that underlying foundation.”

Stream SECT’s “Stripes” at Punktastic RIGHT HERE.

The vegan straight edge SECT collective unites vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love, Left For Dead), guitarists James Chang (Catharsis, Undying) and Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance), bassist Steve Hart (Day Of Suffering), and drummer Andy Hurley (Racetraitor, The Damned Things). UNSANE To Begin North American Tour Supporting Southern Lord-Released Sterilize LP This Week

New York City’s UNSANE begin a new North American tour in support of their eighth studio full-length album, Sterilize, released in September through Southern Lord.

With their intense month-long European tour ending only one week ago, UNSANE begins another massive trek which sees them out for over a month on North American soil. The new tour begins this Thursday, December 16th with two consecutive shows in Brooklyn, after which they’ll run a clockwise path of smoldering demolition throughout the US and lower Canada through December 19th, the tour ending in Philadelphia. Direct support for UNSANE will be provided in New York by Cherubs, for the following two-and-a-half weeks by Plaque Marks, and for the final eight shows with Child Bite and labelmates Big|Brave.

Stream UNSANE’s entire Sterilize now at THIS LOCATION.

See a new tour trailer by Chariot Of Black Moth HERE.

Sterilize is available now through Southern Lord on CD, LP, and digital formats; find preorders and merch at Southern Lord’s webshop HERE.

Closing a five-year gap since the 2012 release of the Alternative Tentacles-issued Wreck LP, UNSANE makes a vicious return with Sterilize, a record that recalls the most defining elements of the band’s seminal albums, surging with their unrelenting singular sound created by guitarist/vocalist Chris Spencer, bassist/vocalist Dave Curran, and drummer Vinnie Signorelli. Sterilize showcases the group sounding as dense and damaging as ever, and sees them remaining as necessary as ever, nearly three decades since they began.

Sterilize was reviewed as Bandcamp’s Album Of The Day, including, “Throughout, Dave Curran and Vincent Signorelli steamroll any rival noise-rock rhythm section into surrender. Chris Spencer’s virulent riffs add to the effect, while his growled lyrics cover a whole gamut of hopelessness: misery, delusion, corporate greed, history’s sick habit of repeating itself, running out of time, running out of breath, running ever towards oblivion.” Noisey’s feature includes that Sterilize, “continues that characteristically bloody legacy with another grisly scene front-and-center… The red splatter adorning the cover accurately matches the tone of its contents. ‘Aberration’ squeals with feedback and a meaty bassline by longtime member Dave Curran, while ‘Inclusion’ slowly grinds a steel-toed boot into the grime and viscera. For fans of the group, these ten tracks deliver the messy goods.”

Exclaim! Magazine’s review boasts that Sterilize is, “an intense ride through conventional rock crafted with an ugly, chaotic sense of aggression that shows the band have no plans of ending their reign over the genre… it succeeds in solidifying UNSANE’s rule as the kings of noise rock.” New Noise Magazine’s feature states, “Sterilize is angular in dimension, with UNSANE‘s trademark spiral extensions billowing out from within the prism. The record is hard, completely chugging, and never shy to explore the more harrowing and circular environment it was born in. It’s old-school and still utterly fresh.” Invisible Oranges encourages, “Relive the glory days of extraordinarily ugly, grooving noise rock with their most angular sons,” and Last Rites issues, “In the never-ending world of turmoil and shit it’s always a good time to get into Unsane or expand your catalogue. Their soundtrack is prescient, falsely comforting and altogether rocking… As they say, we will get ‘no reprieve.’ So why worry? Relax. We’re fucked.

SECT: No Echo Debuts “Day For Night” Video From Southern Lord-Bound No Cure For Death LP

SECT – founded by members of Cursed, Left For Dead, Catharsis, Undying, Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance, Day Of Suffering, Racetraitor, and more — has issued an official video created for the song “Day For Night,” which hails from the band’s impending second album, No Cure For Death, set for release later this month through Southern Lord.

No Echo has debuted the new video, which was directed by Justin Reich (Black Label Society, Crowbar, Hatebreed) alongside an interview with guitarist Scott Crouse, offering in part, “the video is an all-action affair that captures the intensity of both the band’s performance style and the song at hand… the song sounds both massive and mean as fuck.”

See SECT’s “Day For Night” video at No Echo RIGHT HERE.

Vegan straight edge outfit SECT unites vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love, Left For Dead), guitarists James Chang (Catharsis, Undying) and Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance), bassist Steve Hart (Day Of Suffering), and drummer Andy Hurley (Racetraitor, Fall Out Boy, The Damned Things). The result is a caustic, riotous, belligerent style of vile hardcore fed by a boundless well of socio-political vitriol. No Cure For Death was recorded with Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studios and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music.

See footage of the No Cure For Death recording sessions at THIS LOCATION and stream the track “Open Grave” HERE.

Southern Lord will release No Cure For Death on CD, LP, and digital formats on November 24th; find preoder merch bundles HERE.

SECT gets right down to the blast beats and breakdowns that fight it out in their chaotic jams. They cut the shit and go for the throat with no time to waste, “because the Orwellian police states and irreparable social and ecological disasters we once saw off on the horizon are now on our front doorsteps, in full swing. And in just such a volatile, precarious moment as this for civilization, there is more reason than ever to keep lashing out at a world more suicidally-bent on its own destruction and the exploitation of people, species and the ecosystem itself, than perhaps ever before in history.”

For SECT, this is the purpose of hardcore as they know it, conveying an urgency that transcends age, credentials or scene politics, to convert desperation into real talk and action.

POWER TRIP continues to tour across the US with Cannibal Corpse and Gatecreeper, on the tail of their huge North American tour supporting Obituary and Exodus. That’s it. That’s all. Don’t fuck up and miss this tour.”

About the tour Trivium reveals, “One of the greatest things about headlining a tour is picking the bands to round out the bill. Code Orange, Power Trip, and Venom Prison are not only the leading edge of the next wave of great metal acts, they are also three of our personal favorites.” Metal Hammer adds, “Heavy music is on absolute fire right now, and this bill proves it. …the best they’ve sounded, the tightest representation of their no-holds-barred thrash attack that pummels you into dirt for 32 frenzied minutes straight, without so much as a 10-second breather…” – Billboard

one of the best live acts of the modern day” – Loudwire

You don’t need to be a metalhead to have a blast with Nightmare Logic… POWER TRIP’s fist-pumping choruses, ricocheting grooves, and ample charm are so animated that they leave us with something addictive and, well, fun. – Pitchfork / Best New Music

possesses a certain monolithic quality Lemmy would admire: a massive rawness and a sludgy, heavy hopelessness that thrashes with punk immediacy and metal intricacy…it’s a track preparing for war” – NPR

one of the most highly anticipated records in aggressive music in recent memory” – The New Yorker

FRIENDSHIP: Hatred LP By Japanese Harsh Hardcore Act Now Available Through Southern Lord; Album Streaming

Hatred, the corrosive debut full-length onslaught from Japan’s mysterious harsh, doom-fueled crust/hardcore outfit FRIENDSHIP, is now available through Southern Lord, the LP streaming in its cruel entirety.

While FRIENDSHIP‘s identity remains an enigma, those who have encountered their antagonistic, loud, and murky sonic world, can testify to the sheer power of the auditory torture the band creates. FRIENDSHIP has previously self-released two CD EPs which sold out in a month since reissued as I & II vinyl and cassette version through Sentient Ruin. For their Hatred LP, the band delivers twelve caustic tracks in just over twenty-five minutes, the album recorded in their home city of Tokyo, the album then mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. Blackened, ominous, and intense, fans of prior Southern Lord releases by Nails, Heartless, Dead In The Dirt, Gust, and similarly devastating acts should not ignore this.

Stream FRIENDSHIP’s entire Hatred LP HERE.

Originally released by Daymare Recordings on CD and digital formats back in June, Southern Lord now issues FRIENDSHIP‘s Hatred on LP format.

Place digital orders for Hatred HERE and order physical product HERE.

Having gained a reputation for extremely loud live shows through playing with the likes of Full Of Hell, Sumac, Endon, and others, FRIENDSHIP will open for Sleep in Tokyo in January. Find more info HEREand watch for international tour dates from FRIENDSHIP to be announced in the months ahead.

FRIENDSHIP Leave Them All Behind 2018:
1/13/2018 Garden – Tokyo, JP w/ Sleep, Mutoid Man, Nepenthes

Stereogum declares of Hatred’s vile attack, “tracks like ‘Life Sentence’ also showcase a riff dexterity and subtle multi-section mastery that evades a lot of genre-adjacent HM-2 steppers… Other bands would labor over a way to get the listener from Point A to Point B. FRIENDSHIP realizes that you don’t need much connective tissue if Point A and Point B both kick ass. And that’s the takeaway: While fast/slow, particularly punk-fast and sludge-slow, is one of the dustier tropes, to be a legitimate two-tool threat is still rare.” Svbterranean’s review includes, “From start-to-finish, FRIENDSHIP make quite the name for themselves on this monstrous, unforgivably heavy debut. Despite their name, FRIENDSHIP‘s music is the furthest thing from friendly.” Metal Trenches warns, “Hatred, as the name suggests, is a no frills, no bullshit slice of bitter hardcore and grind with no regard for your eardrums or well-being… Listening to this album conjures images of concrete slabs and dried bloodstains.”
