BIG|BRAVE Announces First Round Of Tour Dates For 2018 Including Roadburn Festival

Since their inception in 2012, BIG|BRAVE has demonstrated the fluidity of experimental rock and put everything into their music until there’s nothing left to give. Their art in musical refinement expands ever gradually, unfurling into a very heavy, strong, and elevating force. As comfortable as they are with tidal waves of sound, BIG|BRAVE is unafraid to experiment with silence, oscillating between sparse, gentle arrangements and deep swells of noise.

Swirling static, booming guitars, powerful drums – all the hallmarks that have made them one of experimental rock’s most exciting acts today. The band’s first wave of dates for the new year has been announced, with a Spring tour across Europe and into Russia confirmed for April and early May, which includes a set at this year’s massive Roadburn Festival. Watch for more tour dates to be announced.

the sound of the raw unconscious, turned up loud.” – Pitchfork

sincere, long-form out-rock that ventures into different directions their music plays out in to moon-bleached grunge where serene vocals crumble over scraping guitars bled of melody. BIG|BRAVE chooses their silences carefully, oscillating between sparse, gentle arrangements and deep swells of noise.” – Cvlt Nation

Montreal’s genre-defying post-rock combo BIG|BRAVE could very well be the most noteworthy recent heavy curiosity to come out of the city in recent years.” – Noisey

…combines elements of Björk, Neurosis, The White Stripes, and Sunn O))) into a cohesive whole; but this whole is an ever evolving and challenging sonic mass.” – The Quietus

a raw, evocative mix of slow-burning post-rock and metal that is somehow both wrecking-ball heavy and feather-delicate, with ferocious, barely-controlled feedback and mountainous, lingering chords. Wattie’s soprano both cuts through and lingers on the weighty sounds, with elusive vocalizations that verge on avant-pop.” – Bandcamp

Ardor bides its time and it was made by a band brave enough to create music and a track listing that allows this spectacle of a record to satisfying inch towards a riveting pitch. It’s an album that evokes the ear blistering noise of Sunn O))) but it’s also emotionally charged music. BIG|BRAVE have somehow made a ruthlessly loud record that is also fascinating, and consistently elegant.” – Drowned In Sound

CENTURIES: The Lights Of This Earth Are Blinding Streaming At New Noise Magazine; Album To See Release This Friday Via Southern Lord

This Friday, CENTURIES will release their second album, The Lights Of This Earth Are Blinding, via Southern Lord. Advancing its release, the entire record is getting an advance stream courtesy of New Noise Magazine.

Formed in 2008 in South Florida, the current CENTURIES lineup now includes members based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Nashville, Tennessee, and in the UK from Manchester. Since their 2013 debut Taedium Vitae (Southern Lord), the group have refined their sound into something more focused, and intense, and The Lights Of This Earth Are Blinding surges with ten new tracks of the band’s harrowing, metallic, punk/crust-influenced hardcore, delivered with a calculated, very deliberate approach. The album was recorded in February 2017 by Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business (Catharsis, Torch Runner, The Body), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Integrity, Black Breath, Halshug), and completed with artwork by Phil Trona.

The members of CENTURIES issue on behalf of their new album, “The Lights Of This Earth Are Blinding is a record that really focuses on the fear and uncertainty in our lives as we get older. From bringing children into this world to slowly losing the ones we love and how we choose to cope with an always looming self-doubt.”

New Noise offers, “CENTURIES bring forth a record that is encompassed by grinding guitars and breakneck rhythmic paces – especially from the drums. Most tracks are quick to their punch, like ‘Bygones,’ a two minute explosion of pure chaos and adrenaline. For an early heavy release, The Lights Of This Earth Are Blinding wreaks havoc with its incredible potency and abrasive nature.”

Stream CENTURIES’ entire The Lights Of This Earth Are Blinding LP at New Noise Magazine RIGHT HERE.

Southern Lord will release CENTURIES’ The Lights Of This Earth Are Blinding on LP and digital formats this Friday, January 26th, 2018. Find preorders at the label webstore HERE and Bandcamp HERE.

AGRIMONIA: Revolver Magazine Premieres “A World Unseen” From Swedish Outfit; Awaken LP Out Next Week Via Southern Lord

As Southern Lord prepares to release Awaken, the epic fourth full-length from Swedish crust/metal outfit AGRIMONIA, the album’s opening track has been premiered through Revolver Magazine.

Awaken was produced by AGRIMONIA, then mixed and mastered by Henrik Udd, who also worked on the band’s prior LP, Rites Of Separation, then under the Studio Fredman banner but now under his own name, Henrik Udd Recording Studios.

The band offers, “The opener of the album, ‘A World Unseen’ is for us a representative AGRIMONIA track, bringing in elements from our earlier material, while existing in the present and looking to the horizon. It sets the tone very well for the rest of the album.”

Revolver writes that the new track, “finds the five-piece moving fluidly from mid-tempo crust to soaring post-rock to black & roll to somber acoustic passages in the span of nine minutes, none of it feeling out of place or forced – just challenging and forward-thinking.”

Stream AGRIMONIA’s “A World Unseen” at Revolver Magazine RIGHT HERE.

Southern Lord will unveil Awaken next Friday, January 26th on CD, LP, and digital formats. Stream the title track “Awaken” with digital preorders at Bandcamp HERE, and find physical preorders at the Southern Lord webstore HERE.

Awaken arrives ten years since the release of AGRIMONIA’s first album, and the band has evolved notably over that period. While their sound has always been dense, immersive, ambitious even, on Awaken, the band has evolved their prog-infused form of expansive metal into something energetic, dynamic, and powerful. On Awaken, the band digs deep into their subconscious, trying to get an elevated state of mind, to connect the mind with sound and to find the combination of notes and melodies that evolves into a feeling or mood. AGRIMONIA channels the bittersweet aspects of life, and breathe air into thoughts that cannot easily be put into words.

GUST To Support Burn On European Tour This March

Sweden’s GUST has announced the band’s upcoming participation supporting New York hardcore innovators, Burn, on the band’s Do Or Die tour of Europe this March. Drawing from their harsh self-titled full-length on Southern Lord, and sharing some new material coming together for the follow-up album, the Gothenburg-based GUST crew is eager to hit the road again.

With ten tracks in just under a half-hour, GUST unleashes a maelstrom of cutting edge demolition, with cerebral elements continually emerging from the shadows with an almost ethereal effect on their self-titled LP. Self-recorded at Fvck Life Studios, and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright (Warcry, From Ashes Rise, Deathreat,) who also supplies guest vocals to the album, Gust is a crushing and incredibly dynamic album, displaying a unique style of crust-infused hardcore and talented songwriting from the young act.

See GUST’s video for “Reality Chokes” RIGHT HERE.

Highly recommended for fans of Cursed, Oathbreaker, Rise And Fall, and of course Southern Lord labelmates The Secret, Baptists and Dead In The Dirt, stream and purchase Gust at Bandcamp HERE.

ALL PIGS MUST DIE Announces West Coast Tour With Baptists In February; Hostage Animal LP Out Now Via Southern Lord

In support of their monstrous 2017-released Hostage Animal, ALL PIGS MUST DIE has announced a string of West Coast shows in support of the album. These shows follow the band’s East Coast record release mini-tour which closed out the year, and mark their anticipated return to the West Coast in five years. With Vancouver-based labelmates Baptists on the lineup as well, this will be a tour not to miss. Tickets go on sale Monday, January 8th at 10am in each respective market; see the full routing below.

ALL PIGS MUST DIE, now a five-piece with the addition of Brian Izzi (Trap Them) on guitar, is comprised of some of the most well-seasoned musicians on the eastern seaboard – Kevin Baker (The Hope Conspiracy), Ben Koller (Converge), Matt Woods, and Adam Wentworth (both of Bloodhorse). Hostage Animal is their most dynamic collection of work thus far and is an aural representation of the band as a whole; concise, intense, aggressive, and carrying a bleak world view. Available now from Southern Lord, Hostage Animal showcases that ALL PIGS MUST DIE is far more than the sum of their parts, and their fusion of crust punk, hardcore, and metal is more ferocious than ever before.

Hostage Animal is available through Southern Lord on CD, LP, and all digital formats; stream the album HERE and find physical orders in the US HERE and Europe HERE.

…an album that touches on many of metal’s myriad subgenres without ever succumbing to their comfort zones. Rancid riffs and infernal grooves collide, while vocalist Kevin Baker’s foul bark further projects the sort of misanthropy and nihilism inherent in their overall sound.” – Noisey

SECT: No Cure For Death LP Streaming At Revolver Magazine; Album Out This Friday Through Southern Lord

North American straightedge/vegan hardcore/crust outfit SECT — featuring members of Cursed, Left For Dead, Catharsis, Undying, Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance, Day Of Suffering, Racetraitor, and many more – will release their second album, No Cure For Death, this Friday via Southern Lord. Advancing its release, the entire LP is now streaming at Revolver Magazine.

SECT vocalist Chris Colohan states, “For a band of people spread so far and wide, No Cure For Death is the record we got to make once we were really rolling – after we’d played a year of shows together, had dusted SECT off and put in the time on stage and on the road to take better aim at both the sounds and messages we wanted to make.

Revolver offers with their album stream, “Recorded with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studios, the album finds the scene vets taking a stand against the sociopolitical status quo… The doomsday clock is ticking, and there’s no time to waste.”

Unleash SECT’s No Cure For Death at Revolver RIGHT HERE.

Southern Lord will release No Cure For Death on CD and digital formats this Friday, November 24th, with the LP following shortly after; find preorders at iTunes HERE, Spotify HERE, and find merch bundles via Southern Lord’s US webshop HERE and Euro store HERE.

SECT unites vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love, Left For Dead), guitarists James Chang (Catharsis, Undying) and Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance), bassist Steve Hart (Day Of Suffering), and drummer Andy Hurley (Racetraitor, The Damned Things). No Cure For Death was recorded with Kurt Ballou at God City studios, mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. Fueled by socio-political vitriol, for SECT, the purpose of hardcore as they know it is to convey an urgency that transcends age, credentials or scene politics, to convert desperation into real talk and action.

The band’s “Day For Night” video, directed by Justin Reich (Black Label Society, Crowbar, Hatebreed), can be seen HERE, and footage of the recording sessions can be viewed HERE.

SECT this week kicks off a run of West Coast shows supporting the LP, with performances in Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver November 24th through 26th. An East Coast run is also looming, with shows in Brooklyn, Albany, and Washington DC, December 8th, 9th, and 10th. Watch for additional tour dates to be announced.

SECT Tour Dates:
11/24/2017 Black Lodge – Seattle, WA
11/25/2017 Black Water – Portland, OR

12/10/2017 The Pinch – Washington, DC

the metallic hardcore is filthy and sinister, laden with a guitar tone resembling a power tool and with feedback akin to the noise one would make scraping on steel.” – Exclaim!

the video is an all-action affair that captures the intensity of both the band’s performance style and the song at hand… the song sounds both massive and mean.” – No Echo

The album was produced by Converge’s Kurt Ballou, so you should know what it’s going to sound like already – total fucking Armageddon.” – Metal Injection
