DARKEST HOUR To Perform Live Streaming Event With Misery Signals December 5th; Proceeds To Benefit Struggling Music Venues

Due to the obvious complications from the continuing COVID pandemic, DARKEST HOUR is saddened to announce the cancellation of their December USA tour with Misery Signals. Refunds can be obtained from your point of purchase. In the same breath, the bands are excited to present to a live stream event to include full sets from both acts.

On December 5th, DARKEST HOUR will be streaming an encore presentation of their Live At The Black Cat 2020 Benefit Concert while Misery Signals will be streaming a never before seen set recorded especially for this online event. Band members from both bands will be available in the live chat during the streaming event and on the live Zoom after party directly after the show, all of which will be free to all ticket holders.

Writes DARKEST HOUR’s Mike Schleibaum, “Both DARKEST HOUR and Misery Signals have built our careers on live music, and we will continue to do our best to give back and use this digital connection to help ensure our future physical one. Portions of the proceeds from the ticket sales will go to benefit clubs all over the world who were either affected by our tour cancellations or have hosted a DARKEST HOUR or Misery Signals Concert in the past. DARKEST HOUR’s first digital event raised over $6000.00 for our favorite live venue in DC, The Black Cat. Let’s do it again this December and continue to spread that love across the globe!”

The show will take place on Saturday, December 5th at 6:30 PM Pacific/9:30 PM Eastern. Bundles include a ticket to stream both sets live and watch on-demand for 24 hours, as well as an official event t-shirt.

Tune in and find ticket bundles for the December 5th event at Veeps RIGHT HERE.

Produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge), DARKEST HOUR’s eleventh LP Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora continues to solidify the band’s legacy as a major metal powerhouse. ENTRY: Revolver Magazine Premieres “Selective Empathy” From Hardcore Punk Quartet With Members Of Touché Amoré And More; Detriment Debut LP Nears July Release Through Southern Lord

Revolver Magazine is hosting the worldwide exclusive premiere of “Selective Empathy,” the volatile new single from Los Angeles, California-based hardcore punk band ENTRY. The band will release their debut full-length, Detriment, through Southern Lord Recordings in July.

As a collective, the members of ENTRY passionately believe in the power of punk and the uniting nature of music, and with Detriment, they reflect themselves and their community with integrity and authenticity. The follow-up to their sold-out No Relief 7″ released on Dune Altar, ENTRY‘s Detriment LP is succinct and ferocious. Detriment is a diverse album which provides a breath of fresh air to the genre. The album showcases the band’s appreciation for different aspects of punk and hardcore, and their imaginative songwriting that is condensed into nine concise musical statements of intent.

ENTRY‘s Detriment was recorded in Los Angeles by the band’s Sean Sakamoto and Christopher Dwyer, mixed by Christopher Dwyer, and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios. The album is completed with photography by Katie Krulock and layout by Emma Maatman.

Writes vocalist/lyricist Sara G about the new single, “‘Selective Empathy’ is about the struggle many of us have with our parents who once told us to be kind and accepting to everyone but now support ideas contrary to that. I think this issue has been exacerbated by the widespread use of social media for news and information sharing.”

Revolver writes, “Los Angeles, California-based hardcore punk band ENTRY are gearing up to drop their debut, nine-track full-length, Detriment, on July 17th via Southern Lord Recordings. Today, the band – which includes Touché Amoré guitarist Clayton Stevens – have teamed up with Revolver to premiere their ruthless new cut ‘Selective Empathy.’ Stream it below and make sure you stick around for the head-smashing breakdown.”

Stream ENTRY’s “Selective Empathy” only at Revolver Magazine RIGHT HERE.

Southern Lord will release Detriment on vinyl and digital formats on July 17th. Find digital preorders where “Your Best Interest” is streaming HERE and watch for physical preorders to post July 3rd HERE and HERE.

Inspired by the likes of Discharge, Minor Threat, Converge, Tragedy, The Cramps, and The Exploited, ENTRY started as a project between Sara G – whose musical origins come from punk bands in Pennsylvania – and Clayton Stevens, who also plays guitar in Touché Amoré on Epitaph Records. Bass player Sean Sakamoto plays in the indie pop band Sheer and is a recording engineer in Los Angeles, while drummer Chris Dwyer is also a recording engineer in LA. The punk community at large is as inspiring as it has ever been to them. ENTRY has played the Olympia Hardcore Festival, and Ceremony’s Homesick Festival in Los Angeles, and has opened for Career Suicide, Krimewatch, Sunn O))), Dangers, Despise You, Sect, and Show Me The Body, and many others.

Review copies of Detriment and interviews with the band are now available. For all coverage of ENTRYin The Americas contact dave@earsplitcompound.com and in Europe contact lauren@rarelyunable.com.

OKKULTOKRATI Streams “Loathe Forever” As La Ilden Lyse Nears Release Through Southern Lord

OKKULTOKRATI is now sharing their new single “Loathe Forever,” the new single from their upcoming new album La Ilden Lyse, nearing release on May 15th through Southern Lord.

La Ilden Lyse – which roughly translates to “Keep The Fire Burning” – is an album of pure, cold, grim, rawness. Themes of enduring life, transcending death, worshipping the moon, and triumphant, satanic darkness are all at play here, and the album sounds harder, faster, and nastier than ever. No more messing around. Keep it black, keep it metal, all the time.

OKKULTOKRATI remarks, “Pushing beyond the grasp of simply life and death, crossing over despite one’s fleshy limitations and mortal flaws. Everything physical decays, rots and fades away, but ideas are forever. Transcending life, contempt/alienation/(self) hate/loathing are eternally constant. Embrace the frostbitten darkness and ride with us to the badlands.”

The band continues, “OKKULTOKRATI has always been more than being a band, making music, touring, and making music. Striving to be something beyond the mundane and trivial. It’s an attitude. In defiance. To everyone and everything. To not chase after trends. To seek truth in music wherever it takes you. To be an outsider and an outlaw, even though it makes you a freak. La Ilden Lyse is music for the misguided, the conspiratorial, the unappreciated and unwanted. It’s black outlaw metal. It’s a beacon in the dark, for desperate times.”

Stream OKKULTOKRATI’s “Loathe Forever” now through Bandcamp HERE, Spotify HERE, and Apple Music HERE.

Southern Lord will issue La Ilden Lyse on May 15th. Find digital preorders where “Kiss Of Death” is also playing HERE as well as the Southern Lord Euro store HERE. US store physical preorders will post in the coming days.

DARKEST HOUR Reschedules 25th Anniversary West Coast North American Tour With Misery Signals And Sect

Celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2020, DARKEST HOUR has rescheduled their North American West Coast Tour. The trek was initially supposed to begin today but was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Writes the band, “We love, miss you, and can not wait to get back on tour. As promised, here are our rescheduled tour dates with Misery Signals and Sect! All three bands will be on the shows again so, this party is back the fuck on!

Of course, due to the current world pandemic we must totally accept the possibility that these shows could also be affected, but we will not let that affect our hopes! Everything is rapidly changing, and it is impossible to say right now how things will sort themselves out by this December. We encourage everyone to stay home, practice the newfound art of social distancing, and stay safe so that we can help get this virus under control and live music can return!

We are, and will continue to, actively monitor the situation over the course of the next few months and we are committed to taking a pragmatic approach to the tour. If it’s not conducive to the health and safety of everyone involved, the shows will be shelved, tickets will be refunded, and we will continue to push on in the spirit of all things heavy metal!

We hope to see you at these shows, now more than ever it’s clear how important this connection of music and spirit is!”

FRIENDSHIP X KUROKUMA SPECIAL STREAMING EVENT WED MAR 25 – 22:00 GMT

Due to the cancellation of Friendship (JPN – Grind/PV – Southern Lord) and Kurokuma‘s (UK – Doom Metal – Astral Noize Records) UK tour after the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the two bands will be hosting a very special streamed performance this Wednesday Mar 25th at 22:00 GMT. The time has been decided as a reasonable meeting point to view the stream from different time zones.

The cancellation of the tour has lead to both bands losing approximately over £4k in flight cancellations and lost revenue. A GoFundMe donation link has been set up to help the bands recoup their losses and hopefully reschedule the tour at a later date. Donations can be made via GoFundMe at this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/recoup-costs-for-friendshipkurokuma This stream will fall on the night of the planned last date of the tour.

Each band will be streaming a set in their own practice rooms from Tokyo, Japan and Sheffield, UK respectively. Due to health and safety concerns amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, every effort will be taken to ensure that each band comes into contact with as few bodies as possible with strict hygiene procedures set in place. Expect to hear sickening grinding hardcore and pummelling psychedelic sludge spanning continents.

Friendship were due to tour their most recent album Undercurrent – released through Southern Lord and Daymare last year – with seven UK dates confirmed with Kurokuma, whose latest split 7″ was released through Astral Noize Records last year.

* with Jessica Moss

“The heaviness of their music resists falling into stoner/sludge mode, but there is huge weight attached to them that, when it hits, is a flooring experience…A Gaze Among Them has the power to crush and caress in equal measures.” – 4* RECORD COLLECTOR

“Their fourth full length is as sparse and explorative as ever, but it’s rendered this time in accessible technicolour…A Gaze Among Them remains steadfastly bold…This newfound confidence suits vocalist/guitarist Robin Wattie, her voice sounding by turns otherworldly, and toweringly defiant, BIG| BRAVE have turned sonic minimalism into a kaleidoscopic experience that becomes increasingly compulsive with each listen.” – 8/10 METAL HAMMER

“a work of shattering weight and magnificence. The fight to be objective about Big|Brave is futile; this band will touch and disturb you like no other, in ways you never thought you could be. Forget classic of its genre: A Gaze Among Them is a classic of its time.” – 9/10 GHOST CULT

“Big | Brave sound utterly unique, like they’ve passed through a secret aperture into territory as yet unexplored by others” – 4.5/5 MUSIC OMH

“A Gaze Among Them is a precious album of truly beautiful aural elation which should be enough to lift the heaviest of hearts.” – 8/10, THE 405
